Bunny Dramatic Play Ideas

Bunny Puppet Show

We're making personal puppet theatres and bunny sock puppets and the kids are writing simple puppet
shows using our sight words    ex. "I like the bunny. The bunny has blue ears. The bunny has a pink nose.
The bunny is nice.  I like the bunny."  They are writing their script (with help) and putting on a show.
When we made the theatres in 1st grade, we used a bunny joke book and the kids each wrote
out their own bunny joke to perform with their puppet. Puppets are a GREAT way for nervous
emergent readers to "hide" while they practice reading.

Stuffed Bunny & Play Food

Provide a stuffed bunny and plastic or paper rabbit food in the area
(carrots, lettuce, grapes, etc.) so the children can "feed" their bunny.

Bunny Ears

Place bunny ears made in art in the dramatic play area or you
can purchase fuzzy bunny ears to place in the dramatic play area.

Ping-Pong Finger Puppet Bunny

Draw a circle on your ping pong ball large enough to put your finger through.
Carefully make a small hole in the middle of this circle so that it fits your finger.
Cut out two ear shapes which should be 1 cm wide at the bottom. With a paper
knife cut two 1 cm slits in top of ball and insert ears. Draw in rabbits face with felt-pens.
Make whiskers by threading 3 or 4 lengths of waxed thread through each
side of the nose. Use a small ball of cotton wool for the tail at the back.
