Bear Dramatic Play Ideas

Teddy Bear Tea Party

Have each child bring their favorite teddy bear (or stuffed animal) from home.
Have a tea party and invite the stuffed animals.  Set the bears at the little
table using play dishes, have the children serve their bears pretend tea and cookies.

The Three Bears

Set up the three bears house (cave)....beds could be 3 different sized towels...3 diff sized
chairs, bowls ect. and let the children act out the story "Goldilocks & The Three Bears."

Teddy Bear Fashion Show

Explain fashion shows to your children.  Feature a few children dressed in garments from
the dress-up area to illustrate your explanation.  Ask each child to bring a teddy bear from
home.  Make sure to provide some for children who don't have them or who forget to bring
them.  Ask the children to dress their bears in a special way for a fashion show.  You can
have the children dress the bears at home or you can provide clothes for them to choose
from at school.  Remind them that the fashion can be just a new bow tie or hat or it can
involve a complete outfit change. On the designated day, play soft background music and
have the children describe the fashions that their bears are wearing.  Be sure to have
awards for each bear with broad categories, like Most Unusual Hat, Most Unusual
Outfit, Most Colorful Ribbon, Best Dressed, Loveliest Coat, etc.

Boo Boo Bears

What if your bear got hurt or sick? Set up a doctor table just for doctoring bears.
Make sure there are plenty of bandaids, ace bandages, wraps, cold compresses,
guaze pads, tape, injections (toy shots) stethoscope, ear looker, tongue depressors
and rubber gloves. You would be amazed at all the stuff a hospital will give you
if it is for educating little ones. It can't hurt to ask. The children will spend
a lot of time at this table so have lots of stuff.
