Fine-Motor Melon
Place clean left-over
watermelon seeds to use. Duplicate a watermelon slice on white paper,
child colors his slice. Then use a marker to make a W in the center.
Trace the letter with glue, add seeds to cover the glue lines.
Watermelon Seed Transfer Game
Make copies of a large watermelon pattern with different numbers of seeds.
Color, cut out, and laminate each pattern. Give the children tweezers and
real
watermelon seeds. Invite them to use the tweezers to transfer seeds from a
dish to
a watermelon, creating a one to one match with the seeds drawn on the
watermelon .
Watermelon Chunks in Sensory Table
Watermelon
chunks in the water table. Props: Potato mashers, slotted spoons,
sieves, funnels,
spoons, cups and plates. Allow children to squish, mash, and 'serve". No
eating allowed!
Watermelon Beads
Let the children string
red and green beads.
Watermelon Play-Dough
Make a batch of play-dough
and add a package of watermelon
gelatin for a great smell. Provide cookie cutters, plastic knives, etc.
For more added fun... Add watermelon
seeds to the play-dough.
