Mother's Day: Large Motor

Mother May I

Select one child to be the mother who stands at one end
of the room.  The other children must take turns asking
"Mother may I take _______."  The blank may stand for
baby steps, giant steps, frog leaps, etc. The mother grants
the wish only if the child has said mother may I.  The first
one to reach the mother becomes the next mother may I.

Mother Bird

Select one child to be the mother bird.  That child covers his or her eyes.
All the other children hide.  Mother uncovers eyes while all the children gently chirp.
Mother finds the children by the sounds of their voices.
The first or last one found becomes the next mother bird.

Mom Math

Moms come in many different shapes, sizes, and colors.  Help the children graph
mothers' different characteristics such as hair color, eye color, and favorite color.

Follow the Mommy Duck

Take the part of the Mother Duck and invite your children to be your ducklings. Play follow the leader and have the children walk behind you, imitating everything you do.  Be sure to waddle and quack as you go.
