Fireworks Discussion
With all of the activity of the Fourth of
July, talk with the children about safety,
especially around fireworks.
Once you have emphasized the safety rules, begin to
discuss the brilliant
colors of the fireworks. Have a long sheet of butcher paper, tempera
paint, and brushes ready. Let the children enjoy painting fireworks
in the sky. Hang up!
Fireworks
Safety
We will talk about fireworks safety:
-Fireworks are not toys (this includes
sparklers)
-Fireworks should only be let off in wide-open
spaces outside.
-Never point or throw fireworks at another
person
-Only adults can handle fireworks
-When an adult lights a firework, stand far away
from it
-Remind your parents to keep water nearby in
case there is a problem
-If you find a leftover scrap of a firework or
an extra firework,
give it to an adult
Circle Time
Discussion
At
circle we will be talking about what the flag looks like and means. I will
bring a picture of the
Betsy Ross version of the flag and a map of the 13 Colonies to illustrate
how many states there
were when that flag was designed. I will also bring a picture of the
current flag and a map of the USA.
