Ice Cream Relay
Divide the children into two teams
and line up each team facing a plastic bucket or tub. Next, set a
container of three-inch styrofoam balls beside each team. Be sure there
are enough balls for
each child to have one. Provide the first child in each line with an ice
- cream cone. At the start signal,
the first child in line places a styrofoam ball into her cone, walks to
her team's bucket, and then
drops the ball in the bucket. Then she returns to her team and
passes the cone to the
next child in line. The relay continues in this manner until each child
has had a turn.
Chalk Dot-to-Dot
Make chalk dot-to-dot pictures
outside on the sidewalk for your children to complete.
Ice Cube Races
Have ice cube races. Make colorful
cubes with food dye. Devise an incline
using a smooth surface like a vinyl tile. Race the ice cubes down the
incline.
Ice Cube Melt Race
Have an ice cube melt race. Give
each child a cube
and encourage them to find ways to quickly melt their cube.
