Construction Recipe Ideas

Cheese Hammers

You will need cheese chunks and pretzel sticks. Cut a variety
of cheese into small squares. Poke a pretzel into each one.

Crackers & Cheese Towers

We construct crackers and cheese small towers for snack

Construction Cake

Serve "Construction Cake".  Basic sheet cake, any flavor, chocolate frosting.
Cover chocolate frosting with Oreo cookie crumbs to resemble dirt.  Decorate cake with
clean (new) construction trucks.  Serve and eat cake with clean (new) sand shovels!

Saw Dust Dessert

Prepare instant vanilla pudding as directed on the box.  For each serving, put several spoonfuls
of pudding in the bottoms of a cup.  Cover with a layer of crushed vanilla wafers. Repeat layers.

Marshmallow Hammer

Insert one end of a pretzel stick into a marshmallow.

Construction Crunchies

Set out a supply of pretzel sticks and assorted shapes and sizes of crackers.  Add a container of
cream cheese spread or peanut butter along with a class supply of plastic knives, paper plates,
and napkins.  Then invite each child to construct a cracker and pretzel creation
using the cream cheese or peanut butter to cement the structure together.

Building Logs

Ingredients Needed:
1/3 cup peanut butter,
3 tablespoons honey,
1/2 cup crushed corn flakes,
1/2 cup quick oatmeal,
1/4 cup dry milk,
chocolate sprinkles,
measuring cups and spoons,
mixing bowl,
wooden spoon,
baking sheet

Directions:
Place the peanut butter and honey in a mixing bowl and mix well with the wooden spoon.
Add the corn flakes, oatmeal and milk to the peanut butter mixture and mix well. Pinch
off a small amount of the dough mixture. Roll the small amount of dough into 2-inch-long
by 1/2-inch-wide logs. Place the sprinkles on the baking sheet. Roll the logs in sprinkles.
Stack the logs on a plate on top of one another in a building formation.
Serve the building as a yummy dessert.

Saw, Saw, Saw Your Food

Let the children "saw" food for snack using plastic knives, i.e., cheese, bananas, apples, crackers, etc.

Serve Snack In a Dump Truck

Place one or more individual bags of granola in the bed of a clean toy dump truck.
Drive the truck across the table and let each child dump out a bag.
Mmmmmm! The dirt and rocks in that dump truck are tasty!
