Candy Cane Large Motor Skills
Candy Cane Limbo
Using a broom handle and empty gift wrap tube, create a candy
cane. Bend the gift
wrap tube and duct tape it to the broomstick handle to create the top
curvy part of the
candy cane. Cover the broomstick and gift wrap tube with
white paper and add thick red
ribbon stripes or red paper stripes. Now the kids can play
limbo under the candy cane.
Candy Cane Slalom
Have the candy canes you can by in the store that go in your yard,
place them in the
ground and have the kids slalom through them, you could also number them
1 - 10 and the children have to walk around them in correct numerical
If you were to put the 12 candy canes in a line about 2
feet apart from each other and weave in
between them, like you see snow skiers do in between the flags, same
concept on the kids are
walking or running, you could also make this into a relay race against 2
classes or 2 groups of children.
Candy Cane Lane
Glue candy cane cutouts on a length of bulletin board paper to
make a meandering path.
Draw areas of caramel quick sand near the path. Then
laminate the bulletin board paper and place
it on the floor. Have a child carefully walk down Candy Cane Lane.
If he/she veers from the path and
gets "stuck" in the quick sand, encourage a classmate to help the child
out the the sticky situation.
